Conspiracy Kalkriese and NOVY 2084 — festival report

Conspiracy Kalkriese and NOVY 2084 at BBGF and Planszówki in Spodek

Over the past month we left our project caves and showed what we’ve been working on at two festivals: the psychological computer horror Conspiracy Kalkriese at the Bielsko‑Biała Gaming Fest (BBGF), and NOVY 2084 — a bilingual magazine containing six carefully selected tabletop games using traditional components (cards, dice, pawns, tokens) — at Planszówki in Spodek. Reactions were enthusiastic and confirmed the potential of both projects. This is a festival report, a summary of takeaways, and an invitation to future playtests.

Conspiracy Kalkriese — a conspiracy theory at BBGF

At Bielsko‑Biała Gaming Fest we presented a tech demo of Conspiracy Kalkriese. It is a psychological computer horror built around a believable conspiracy theory that explores occult influences within Third Reich structures. Players explored the abandoned Baumgartner house, solved demonic puzzles, and moved through ever darker locations. Together with Arcydev Sprottes, we watched tension rise minute by minute, and participants sink deeper into the story.

Even though it was only a tech demo, we sparked strong interest and many positive reactions. Players did a lot of thinking, and the space itself often disoriented them. Despite many test runs, I still get lost in that house. It is a true labyrinth, which suits narrative horror perfectly. The most engaging moments were questions about history and inspirations: historical sources, local legends, and how real events feed mechanics that build fear. A few moments triggered loud reactions, which is the best compliment for a horror game. We collected valuable feedback on pacing, difficulty, and immersion, so we are already planning the next playtests.

NOVY 2084 — a games magazine for creators and players

At Planszówki in Spodek we showcased NOVY 2084 — a bilingual magazine of tabletop games for creators and players who value strategy, bluffing, and classic components. The issue contains six independent games that use cards, dice, pawns, and tokens. Each game has been playtested and polished, and is ready for further playtesting.

Reactions were lively and constructive. Players tried to „read minds” at the table, they calculated risks, and they experimented with tokens. Designers collected concrete notes, and communities started connecting. NOVY 2084 bridges game creators, board‑game clubs, and testing groups. We connect communities, we give authors a path to publication after tests, and we fund club testing and honoraria from collected funds. For players, this means access to many games without hauling bulky boxes — light, strategic, and practical. Feedback focused on layout and future themes, and importantly, club representatives expressed interest in collaboration. As a result, NOVY 2084 is gaining both readers and real testing partnerships. This is the start of a platform that will help pull prototypes out of drawers and develop future issues.
